Well Maybenext has done a good job of telling about our meeting with Guy so I will just fill in the blanks.
Mind you once I start about Guy I might not be able to stop so this could be quite long but feel free to have a little snooze if you get bored
First I have to say a BIG thanks to Gary Pinto who organised it. He is such a lovely man!
We were talking to Carl about his baby due next month when I saw Gary standing by the doors to the auditorium. I thought he and Prinny did a great job so went over to tell him that, then I asked him if he would sign my BL cd cover.
He said Me? in a really surprised voice then said Don't you want Guy to sign it?
I said that would be good but I'd like his autograph too so he signed it then said he would go and get Guy to sign it.
MBN gave me the dvds for Gary to give to Guy too.
Security made us all wait out in the foyer and I wondered if I would get my cover back. Gary came out a few minutes later and gave me the cover then I was a bit cheeky and said I had a story in Guy's biography but didn't have it with me and would Guy sign that if I took it to Logan the next night. He said yes, I'll come and get it from you and I said will you remember? and he said yes, I'll keep an eye out for you. Then I said I had come from NZ for the concerts and he said if Guy knew that he would want to meet you, I'll go and tell him.
He came back soon after and said Guy wants to meet you and the lady who made the dvds and then took us backstage. Guy smiled at us when Gary opened the door and he said he would be finished soon and would we mind waiting. (No!!!)
Gary was such a sweetie - very apologetic for us having to wait, not that we minded, and he got us a drink each.
After a while Guy came out and started talking to a guy and a girl, You might remember that someone won a radio competition for singing Angels while being pelted with tomatoes and the winner was supposed to have a meal with Guy but the radio station didn't organise it. Well that was the girl and Guy came out to see her because she missed out on the meal with him.
After he finished talking with them he came over to us and held his arms out and gave us a lovely big hug! I must say I was quite relieved to find I enjoyed it the same way I enjoy getting a hug from my son, who is 2 years older than Guy!
Just wipe that disbelieving look off your faces!!! Yes, you know who you are!
He seemed surprised that I had come from NZ to see him and said he would like to come back to NZ and had just been talking about it with BMG that week. I'm not sure exactly what he said about that but I got the impression he was keen but they were taking some persuading. I asked why they didn't promote him more in NZ because we love his music, but he didn't know.
We talked about how his Mum would like watching him on the dvds because she doesn't see him much now and I told him how excited I was when I saw my son who lives in another city, in a church service that was being televised.
We talked about the gospel album and he tried to work out whether it was him or Henry Seeley singing and he sang a little bit of Amazing Grace so we got our own private mini concert!
We talked about Proboards and Yahoo and he is so appreciative of his fans, and we told him how the Gold Coasters were having us to stay and running us round so we could go to the concerts. I think he loves the way we all get on so well and help one another out.
He signed MBN's album and then we took photos. He made a comment about my camera too - said it was a nifty looking camera, 6 megapixels and said I should get some pictures with that and I told him I'd just gone and bought it that day so I could take better pictures of him!
Then he had to go and talk to some other people.
Nikki Cox was standing there looking very disapproving so I suppose he was taking a lot more time than he should have (I think he'd be a handful to manage! But I wouldn't mind giving it a go!) but he never makes you feel as though he's got to rush away.
The same two things stood out to me this time as when I met him briefly signing cds last year - while he's with you he makes you feel as though talking to you is the most important thing to him, and gorgeous as he is in photos, he's even better looking in real life!
All the lovely Proboarders and Yahooies clapped and gave us a big cheer when we came out and I feel the same as MBN - it was so generous of you all to be so happy for us when I know how much you must have wished it was you in there. Your turn will come if there's any justice!
I'm sure there are other things but I can't remember at the moment.
Is anyone still awake out there? I told you it would be long!
