If we needed anymore proof that the Idol voting audience has their head up their arses with the light dimmer on - we got it tonight with Rob Mills remaining in the competition after giving one of the worst performances seen in weeks. Yes girlies, Rob might have a "charming" personality and drop farts around the house but dropping fart bombs is about the peak of his powers. Let me give it to you straight - MILLS CAN'T SING! He's PRETENDING he can or under the delusion that he is competent but what was the story about the Emperor's Clothes?

Yeah.. I'm HOPING this guy goes... it's coming to a point in the competition where it's all about VOICE CAPABILITY.. not JUST the looks. I have no argument against Rob being in the top 10, however ALONGSIDE the finalists that are left Mills shouldn't be there. Although I have a soft spot for Levi... I think he might have to go soon, need to shake off some of that americanism MATE And as for the two remaining girls.. no doubt at all that Paulini will take it out from these two. Guy for second place.

i have to agree i hate rob i hated him even more when he was it was between him and Bek as to who would go in the bottom 3 and he made it to the next week. You could see how scared he was he has to know himself that it's his fans that keep him in. There are quite a few forums devoted to how good he is. I'd really like to work a leigon interactive so i could have some idea as to how many votes he gets a week.

there no need to be harsh about Rob.... he is a performer and u cant be involved in the music industry without having the ability to perform well. I work in the music industry and theres soo many people that lack talent yet still are singers but its an industry where looks and persona are always going to overide everything else as harsh and as lame as it is thats the way it goes. I do believe that Paulini, Cosima and Guy are the three most talented in vocal performance but at the end of the day it comes down to who will be able to make the most amount of money from their voice and when you compare Millsey's popularity (yes with those young teenyboppers.....but yet it is this demographic age group that is bound to buy the cd's, merchandise and become the groupie fans.... that will maintain the artists popularity) to the others it is obviouse that he does have an appeal of some sort that will allow him to become one of the last contestents and maybe even win the comp. You really shouldn't be so personal and harsh on Millsey as a performer because he is doing what he loves doing and fair enough not everyone is going to appreciate his music and his personality but at the end of the day at least he is up there giving it a go and he is appealing to the public. Who ever ends up winning isn't gauranteed fame and the others have showcased themselves and will more than likely gain something from all of this...... i think everyone should stop being sooo harsh with their comments its a hard enough industry to break into and they all need all the credit thats you can give them... not saying everyones not entitled to their own opinion cause they are but Rob has made it this far and its not just because he is good looking....ive seen him play before Aust Idol at local pubs/bars in melbourne and he has always been able to entertain a crowd.

Mikkie,
There IS need to be harsh about Rob - because better singers have not made it through. Rob is hardly "involved in the music industry" - aside from embarrassing himself at the pub and on national TV - and IF he gets his foot in the door its going to be slammed in his face pretty soon. He is a CRAP singer - sure he's self-confident and can bounce around and try to sing stuff with this atrocious Americanised style but he ain't got it!
Mikkie "at the end of the day"? Which day. Monday? Thursday? Do you mean finally, in the end, ultimately? What - not be personal because "he is doing what he loves doing" - well some people do enjoy embarrassing themselves in public but it is up to us critics to give it to them straight.
No - I'm not going to encourage performers who I think are not good - that would be utterly absurd. You've had the Millsy pub experience - god help Melbourne if that's what happening to city entertainment.

Pinkline,
I would hardly say that Rob is 'embarrassing himself', as you put it. I agree that he is not up to the calibre of the other contestants in terms of vocal talent, but he's gotten this far and yes, beaten out other arguably 'better' contestants along the way (although you can hardly hold this against him - it's not him doing the voting!), gaining a shitload of fans along the way, so in what way is he embarrassing himself exactly? I'd say he's doing pretty well in terms of milking his time on AI for all it's worth considering his disadvantage in vocal ability.
Pinkline, your opinion is just that - an opinion. Thousands of others across Australia obviously do not share this opinion with you and I wish that you would more frequently respect the opinions of others as they respect yours, instead of always speaking as if you are God and know all.
And before you dismiss me as a teenybopper who wants to get into Rob's pants, let me correct you - I'm not a Rob fan at all. I don't find him in the least attractive and personally find his vocals lacking - plus, he grates on my nerves. I just didn't find that your saying that he is 'embarrassing himself in public' was valid and thought that I would point it out.

embarassing himself....... whatever... he is great and obviosuly you can't argue with that fact because he is still in the comp isnt he? And it is evident that he will remain to the very end Im no hard core 'millsey fan' but i still think he is great and yes im still going to give credit to the others (though it is obvious he isnt vocally as strong as Paulini, Guy and Cosima) im still appreciating his music and personality. Oh and the pub experience was great by the way.... his so called act of 'embarassing himself' is the reason so many people are going to watch him play @ the red eagle and why so many people are voting to keep him in..... the people in Australia sure have a funny way of showing their appreciation to a so called talentlesss fool.

Kayti,
I would DEFINITELY say Rob is embarrassing himself. Last week he was woeful. Couldn't think of a better example. Mate, I'm untrained and I can outsing Mills any day of the week. He hasn't beaten "arguably" better contestants - there is no argument here - BETTER contestants have had their spots STOLEN by this farting clown.
So what if he's got a shitload of fans? They're equally as embarrassing and have no clue about quality.
No Kayti, my expert opinion is just that - I speak FACTS only. I don't care about the alleged thousands of Millsy fans across the nation - I do not give any consideration whatsoever to the opinions of thousands of musically-retarded people.
Rob Mills is an embarrassment because this show is supposed to be now about the final six of the BEST. God help Australia.

Mikkie,
No Rob's not great. Marcia Hines is great, Arnold Squirty Walsh is great, Sunline is great. It is irrelevant that he is still in the comp. That just reflects the number of musical-less dunderklunks we have in this country.
Seriously - have you ever heard Marcia Hines sing? SHE is sensational. Millsy might be GREAT singing in the shower and he may be sound GREAT coughing up his lungs to a bunch of drunks in a pub but that's where the fantasy ends.

Just thought I’d point out that even IF Millsey were to become the Australian idol from the massive teenybopping support (oh please no!)...this doesn't necessarily mean he will sell CD's!! The boy-band, teenage idol industry is a very competitive market and Millsey's singing is nowhere up to scratch to the likes of already existing N*sync, Robbie Williams etc. Let's just face the facts, Millsey just CAN'T SING AT ALL!!
That's what has and will be the biggest dilemma. Millsey isn't talented or goodlooking enough to sell records. His personality and occasional flatulence can only get him so far... and he will become another typical one hit wonder that we do not need. I wouldn’t go to the extent of describing Millsey’s performance as embarrassing himself, he’s a confident, energetic performer but doesn’t have what it takes. If by some unfortunate chance Millsey is voted to the final round - I’m afraid Australia would have already become the biggest laughing stock for yielding such foolish, feebleminded voters.
