Well the voters finally got it pretty much right - Paulini was the class act here and confirmed that with another exquisite piece of singing tonight. Great voice - that's what I should have said in my review but anyway that's what I'm saying now. Brilliant.
Rob - met the criteria but geez he looked like a fourth rate performer alongside Paulini almost to the point of embarrassment. But thought he'd get through.
If Rodney/Courtney? had got through that would have been a joke. Good performer though - I think he did it for a laugh and a bit of exposure anyway so good luck to him.
You can feel a little sorry for the others but hey this is the harsh reality of entertainment.
Well done Paulini - you've got the X factor that Marcia talked about.
p.s. Dicko got it wrong again picking Courtney/Rodney to go through - but he had to say that as he had criticised Paulini for not showing personality. Paulini has huge potential fo improvement - the voice is there she'll only get better in other areas.

Liz,
Ben was pretty ordinary - I've got no idea why Marcia didn't criticise him - there was nothing special about his performance at all. Alex did a better job - she was the unlucky one if anyone was.

I'd have to say that Alex was pretty non-special, too. In fact, everyone other than Courtney and Paulini was kind of uninspiring.
Paulini had a nice grace about her that suited the song and Courtney was just having herself a ball and her enthusiasm was infectious.
Rob seemed a bit too self-consciously restrained, but still managed to give enough of a hint of the hell he'd raise with material that lent itself to that sort of thing, so I'm glad he got through anyway.
Stu's making an effort to grow as a performer and I hope he can bring it together for next week's show.

If Ben's performance had been ordinary, I don't think I'd be this upset to see him go sigh.  Perhaps Marcia saw that side of him as well. Alexs was quite dull. Great for the first 2 secs, but I found my mind drifting off elsewhere. And what was that silly talk she made about not being a Bimbo? !!! Stu is a good performer but definitely NOT idol material. |
