Guy's star shines bright
Anyone who is not yet under the spell of Guy Sebastian has not yet
seen him perform live.
The all-singing, all-dancing, all-instrument playing Christian with
a 'fro hit the stage again in Adelaide this weekend, as part of his
Beautiful Life tour - his second solo outing since he won the
inaugural Australian Idol crown in 2003.
Oozing charm at every turn, Guy had the audience of mostly women and
young girls in a spin.
Although I questioned the choice of venue for the three weekend
shows - Her Majesty's Theatre compare wit the Entertainment Centre
last time he toured - fans in the front rows would have adored
seeing their idol up close and personal.
And did he get personal, sharing stories about how he's learning to
surf, his past heartbreaks and how he's missing Adelaide.
"I love home, I've been in Sydeny too long," he said.
Opening the show with some heavy rock beats, Guy strolled onto the
stage to the sounds of hysterical screams, and launched into Out
With My Baby and then his version of Prince's hit When Doves Cry,
finishing with a jam on the drum kit.
Paulini, also an Idol contestant, tried her hardest to warm up the
audience before Guy. She displayed her amazing vocal talents with a
song that was a bit too religious for a Friday night, but she failed
to "sizzle" on stage as the promotional material had promised.
Guy also gave Adelaide girl-band Sheeq a chance to shine as the
opening act.
But the spotlight was commanded by Adelaide's own Idol from start to
finish, rounding off with an encore of Angels Brought Me Here.
