IDOL R&B SHOW
It is becoming more than clear that Flowerpot Man No. 1 – James Mathieson is set to graduate any day now from The Rove McManus Academy of Hindenburg Comedy whilst Flowerpot Man No. 2 – Andrew Gee still has his head in the kebab shop fumes after winning Cleo Magazine’s prestigious “Sorbolene Bachelor of the Year” award. Great stuff guys. And thanks Mr Gee – I’ve just worked out your “UR SOUL” joke this morning. Hysterical stuff.
CHUNNEL DEARIE
Another kooky piece of work with “Hit Em Up Style”. Micky Mouse hair Chunnel’s approach was probably more theatrical than a shining example of great singing. Entertaining enough but without hitting the spot. A bit of mock R and B that didn’t sit well with Marcia as to song interpretation. 5/10
THE LYGON SHETLAND
Tony Mott the photographer summed it up, finding the pit pony’s character hard to extract. A drunken bawling style opening followed up with the cloned style of your typically forgettable modern pop recording artist. Big voice, terrible diction in parts, custom stupid head tilts, with closed eyes. Has a voice but do you really want to buy the record? 6/10
CAKESTACKS DONUTVAN
A pretty good rendition of “Beautiful” - Over the mountain of my stomach I see my thongs. Big Donuts back on song this week with a stylish performance. Second best of the night. 6.5/10
PORKNEY MCMURPHY
Not one of the Big Guy’s better nights. A strained, wonky, weak go at “What a Fool Believes”. Song choice didn’t pay off and Holden was spot on. Marcia could only offer another lapidary inanity “You enjoy what you’re singing?”. 4/10
HARDLY JORGENSEN
The best performance, a bright and cheery display by Jorgensen, excellent connection with the audience and vocals were strong. Personality has really come out. Very good. 7/10
TO GO: Chunnel I suspect
