Hey guys... as much as I LOVVVVVVE Australian Idol and I am really looking forward to it, i don't think it is going to take off as much as it did last year. I think you'll find alot of people will be comparing it to last year's and thinking there is no way there will be a better top 4 than last years of Guy, Shannon, Cosima and Paulini. I'm thinking this years might be a little more manipulated also, meaning certain people pushed over others. They were already filming there "little stories" from a while ago on people, it seems as if they knew from straight away who they wanted to promote and the categories they wanted to fit people in ie. "the single mum", "the young one of the bunch", "the struggling one" which is a little unfair to all those participating as those people will have an edge on everyone else. And as is noticed in alot of reality television and which studies have shown, the second series doesn't go off as much, althought it is still popular, it isn't as big and its the third and fourth ones which came back with a huge bang. People may be just a little 'idoled' out and a bit sick of reality tv following American Idol and Big Brother and want a break... i guess we'll have to see! Anyways, i do hope its successful for the people participating, Channel 10 and BMG's sake however, i have to say and i know ALOT of people around Australia will agree with me, Guy will always be my and our Australian Idol, even if the other winners are great... Takecare everyone! xxx I agree with you Stace...I don't think anyone can live up to Guy.....and let's face it everyone will be comparing this year's show to last year's...and that's inevitable.

Guy is a hard act to follow... I really think that the first series lucked out with last 4... they are all amazingly talented but Guy was always out there on his own ;D ;D I don't know whether they could find someone of the calibre of Guy again real soon... because I don't think this sort of talent comes along often

I am looking forward to it.
No point comparing to Guy as he's unique.
I didn't get into American Idol as I thought the same, but nearer the end I did.
The concept is such a good one and it gives us new stuff to discuss.
I didn't come into the forum until the end last time so can't wait to discuss the singers from the beginning this time.

I have heard all the top 30 singers, with the exception of guy and paulinie the rest of last years top 12 wouldn't have made this years top 30. The standard of singers this year shits on last year. Way more people tried out this year and they had a much larger talent pool to pick from. You will be eating your words darling....

Guy will always be THE IDOL we will have very good idols though, but just like in the case of the UK and America, when they think of the UK POP IDOL in britian they think of WIll YOung, The Ameruican Idol Kelly Clarkson, The Australian Idol Guy SEbastian,

OHHH getting our knickers in a knot anyone?? (back up vocals) I think it is a tad ridiculous for you to judge the second series before it even hits the screens....As far as how I have heard the top 30, I was in the final 50. We got to hear everyone sing on the last day at the semor centre. The talent is amazing and I bet you will be here hero worshipping someone from A2 this time next year.

Lets just wait and see, ... i think Guy is the best singer ive ever seen, but if im probven wrong il eat my words, Guy will always be what everyone remembers as the 'Australian Idol' im sure of this, but then again season 2 hasnt even started so who knows.... all i know is that last season made 2 superstars and bout 5 other household names. 1 of which has been getting international acclaim (Guy Sebastian) but hes an artist in his own right and will be considered one of the Idol legends just like Will young, Gareth Gates, Kelly Clarkson, Clay Aiken he will be seen as one of (if not the) best of the idols, in the original season atleast and he will be huge forever so, dont get to worried guy will always be tour favourite evn if we get something brilliant this time,... its almost as if were afraid of Guy being outshun.... im not sure that this will happen on talent, charisma, personality but if it does... then we must have a superhuman race

Innie, there are Guy fans and there are the other GUY fans!!
They cannot see beyond his afro and are probably proud of it.
Unfortunately some of them are very one track and small minded and they are building up the momentum for a big disappointment.
The problem with the word 'idol' is that it is akin to God and his fans are worshipping Guy up there almost on the same par and pedestal with God. He is an angel, he won't do this or that unlike someone else or he has talents, personality etc etc that is almost saint like. Just go and read some of the other threads. Like Jarrad H said, if there is someone out there like Guy, we must be a superhuman race.
If I were Guy, I'd choose to stay away as these are very unrealistic expectations. The poor bugger!!!
And they loathe the idea of someone else eclipsing Guy.
So we shall see!

Oh go and moan somewhere else.
This is a forum, the people here don't exist in your every day life, why are you letting them get to you? Simply turn your computer off instead of wasting your "precious" time writing these snarky little rants in the hope of getting under peoples skin with your opinion.
Why are you even wasting the energy in your little fingers? Just because you have the ability to share your bitter little opinion doesn't make it a fact.
