yeah i heard Guy say that as well I wonder why Prince said no but was happy for him to have the song on his album...
I still think Guy does a 'wonderful' version of 'What a wonderful world'....its an old song that no one cared much about, and he brought life back into it

Poop Tart,
Guy strangled the bejesus out of the Louis Armstrong classic then ran the lawnmower over it. Appalling.

Sorry but I have to agree with pink. The judges were quite complimentary with guy's performance. As a matter of fact a number of the international audience have actually seek out guy in this site and others, after watching him. Some of the biggest fans are colored people similar to L. Armstrong. These are some of the reviews I've found on the U.K. Amazon website:
Reviewer: A music fan from Georgia, USA. I first saw Guy on World Idol and I was very impressed with his performance. I loved his beautiful voice and his rendition of "What a wonderful world" (his voice is similar to Terence Trent Darby's great voice too - especially their high register) And even though this CD was put together in a short time it's still pretty good (six days after idol finals) - it takes someone with a great voice and talent to pull that off. I've enjoyed listening to it.
Reviewer: Kathleen Nelson, PhD from California United States I first saw Guy Sebastian on World Idol, where he sang "What a Wonderful World" and I was impressed by his terrific vocal talent and his engaging personality.
Reviewer: nicwhite45cc from UK This album is the only one out that can compete with Will Young's From Now On - it is so damn funky! A very positive feel to the album, and I don't skip any tracks while its playing! What A Legend, 11 January, 2004 Reviewer: Bosley I saw guy on World Idol and instantly was gripped by his voice. He's fantastic. So I quickly air mailed his album because I loved his rendition of What a Wonderful World. All the tracks are great and I hope he does a tour over here soon. Fantastically Unique, 2 January, 2004 Reviewer: A music fan from Norwich, Norfolk United Kingdom With a combination of Soul Ballads, RnB and Funk; Guy Sebastian brings a breath of fresh air to modern music, reaching out to all ages. His voice is beautiful, soulful and he sings with passion. This album is sensational whether played in a club or played over a romantic, candlelit dinner. Unlike many other albums I listen to...I just love every track. Lets hope he has a concert in the UK soon!
I have read some of your past posts where you attempt to pass yourself as talented like toosick. However compared to Guy you are a midget.

No way. The original Prince version is a classic which will never be improved upon.

I reckon Guy only changed his story to "they chose it for me" cos everyone bagged him out over the song choice. Damn Prince.

.Some of the biggest fans are colored people similar to L. Armstrong. I think the world colored people is quite derogatory, black would have been better, or even no reference. It makes no bloody difference. Sorry hate that term. Rant over.

Yes PINK
"sycophantic" is a predictable choice for a self-mutilating pock-faced gnome like yourself. Think it makes you come across as intelligent? Let me test you - just explain why you would use sycophantic when trying to curse me? Elaborate come on!
The whole crux of your insipid and genetic-inspired brain colostomy is that you had your musical "taste" questioned and constructively criticised and then you got the poops. You then resort to the cheapest form of retort by throwing in puerile "gay" jibes.
May I suggest an enema with a fire hose up your kebab chute - that should clear the problem - at least temporarily. Meanwhile don't mess with people who are several light years of monkey trees ahead of your own - that is EVERYONE. You seriously couldn't shine shit.

Guy's song choice on WI has sent fans scrambling to find out where they can buy his CD - people STILL don't know how to use the internet properly.
I found out a friend in Holland thought Guy's performance was the best on the night and she's been trying to buy his CD. I gave her his official website, told her to listen to the CD clips first, and if she liked it, I'd send it to her - she RAVED about the website, AND the songs, so she's getting his album and the newly released single CD. Yes !

This is getting good..
Sorry,step aside Elle.
gAYLINE, I called you sycophantic because you refuse to accept the simple facts about Paulini.Just can't stand your constant toadying. She was one of my early favourites along with Cosima but she was colorless. When the heat was turned on she faded out.So what do you want from paulini for your efforts? Borrow her gold dress? Why are you so bitter? Are you doing well yourself? You come across as a cynical frustrated person who hopes to bask and reflect on Paulini's success if she does well, unfortunately she doesn't. Are you well educated? You sound like someone with a lower high school qualification who need to cloak his educational insecurities with big sounding words reminiscent of my school friends then. Myself ,I have done reasonably well.I was in stock broking and have handed over cheques up to seven figures for my clients, and has been trusted enough to be handed over stacks of signed blank cheques for squaring of accounts.MY partner who works at the very top in a multinational corporation and I still pay tax in six figures. I have degrees in pure and applied sciences.I also have a MBA.I play several musical instruments and have been highly praised by my tutor I engaged from Sydney Orchestra. So you are not qualified to talk to me about personal development or culture. I have finished and I am not giving more information.
