Ok, Ok, so Paulini's choice of dress wasn't so good. The stylist for the Idols should be repremanded severely. Dicko's comments about the choice of songs being too old for her confuse the hell out of me. Look at Delta Goodrem. She is younger than Paulini and yet no-one tells her that the song choices are too old for her. They are mostly sombre anyway. Paulini and the others are given themes each week. I think she is trying hard to stick to this formula. Nothing wrong with that.

I don't agree with how Mark & Dicko went about expressing their disappointment regarding Paulini's outfit - it had nothing to do with her weight or size - it was simply a poor item of clothing. She has an amazing voice and that is what they should be concentrating on. Also from one of the 'posters' above, you do no justification to the fools who post uneducated views - when you too sledge Millsey supports!!!!!

seems a few people on this message board have some "fat" issues of their own to address.
dicko didn't say paulini was fat, he said that if she was going to wear outfits like that (tight gold flesh exposing lurex!!!) she needs to drop a bit of weight.
it doesn't matter what size you are, if you wear soemthing unflattering/too tight you create the illusion that you are larger than you are, whether you are size 8 or 18.
Paulini looked gorgeous the past few weeks, wearing clothes that were flattering to her body type...last night she did not....

But why didn't he just tell her she needed to wear the dress a size larger instead? ;D

To be honest I hated Paulini's outfit . . . the outfit was awful AND it didn't fit her right. I agree with Mark's comments (for once) . . . Dicko was right cos she was really out of breath during the song ( I think from walking around while singing) . . . but I did find his comment to be too rude although there is truth in it. It's not something you should say on National TV.
AI is about talent, performance, looks and personality . . . the whole package. I think Paulini's got a great voice and performs well but definitly does not have the whole package to be a STAR !
My favourite is definitely GUY . . . he's got the whole package and definitely has the best voice in the competition . . . I have seen a poor performance from him yet . . . Go GUY !!!!
My second favourit is prob Cosima !

I think the Mabelline team are really lacking. Ok so they seem to be able to do the girls makeup really well and they have brought Cosima out of her shell. But I have not seen anything that has been really fantastic. The fact that they allowed poor Pauline to even walk out in that outfit is testimony to their poor taste. Plus why on earth havn't they made an effort to get Guy into some funky clothes. He looks so georgous in trendy jeans and a T. These people are meant to be qualified

Paulini always looks absolutely fabulously great! But I did say outloud "Who made her wear that dreadful dress!"

it seems to me that since they cannot criticise her for her voice, Dicko and Marc had to look for something else to criticise, the comment was rude, uncalled for. Even if the dress was a bit tight so what? she still looked nice and delivered her song brilliantly. Paulini is a real diva compared to the 'wanna be' like cossima. not only is Paulini a beautiful black woman, she has the best voice in that competition. Without her in it, its a useless competition obviously one australian idol looking for another white idol!!!!!! Go paulini!!!! Dicko i thought u were more intelligent than that.

What Ian Dickson said was socially irresponsible. There are far too many girls out there struggling with body image. He managed to reinforce their misguided belief that thin is best in 5 seconds flat.
In most major corporations you would be reprimanded if not fired for saying something so rude and thoughtless.
AND at the end of the day, she's got more talent in her little finger than most of us could ever hope for.

i ask you all this.....would there be the same uproar if one of the judges told cosima she needed to eat a steak and fatten up a bit? in my opinion no....
people are always very quick to point out that we all come in many shapes and sizes and not all of us are born skinny....well, lets remember that some people are born thin. many "skinny" people have body image issues of their own....and spend most of their lives being teased and called names like chicken legs, anorexic or rake....how is this any more appropriate than calling someone fatty?

ok although i think Dicko was out of line for saying something so personal and touchy on camera, i do see where he was coming from. Unfortunately we live in a world of stick thin popstars so Dicko was just saying wot he thought Paulini needed to do/know in order to win. I personally dont think Paulini is fat or anything, shes got curves which is good to see but unfortuately people dont like that in a popstar-which is stupid. In my opinion we should have more popstars like paulini-real women- then maybe all those girls out there with image problems could boost there confidence and know there r other women out there with curves to! In a way i guess it'd be good to have paulini as a popstar coz the first thing i wanna do when i see Britney or Christina on tv is turn it off coz they have such damn good bodies-and i get depressed, if paulini was on, i'd wanna watch it coz she's just a normal, healthy girl like me-i can relate more to her ya know.

I think everyone needs to take a step back and stop abusing the judges for their frank words.
Dicko is a recording company executive, he is trying to make money from one of these contestants.
To make money, that person has to be talented AND marketable. Paulini is NOT marketable. She is not fat but you CAN see her butt and the chicken wings forming.
I'm sorry, but that is NOT the way society views how an ideal girl should look. Before I am flamed......this is the way it was when we got here and thats the way its going to be when we depart. Thats the way it is, lets just deal with it.
To blame Dicko for giving impressionable girls the wrong idea is just ridiculous. He is feeding the demand, demand driven by us society, for talented good looking people. We set successful precedents like Delta, Kylie, Holly V and Natelie Imbruglia. Don't blame them for doing what we pay them for doing by voting with our wallets.
