WHEN Delta Goodrem last year nervously accepted the award for most popular new talent at the Logies, little did she know what lay ahead.
One year later, Goodrem's world has changed forever.
As well as battling cancer, she has become the biggest star this country has seen since Kylie Minogue in the late 1980s.
As Crown casino was abuzz yesterday getting ready for tomorrow's Logies, Goodrem found herself the favourite to sweep the awards, including the Gold Logie for the most popular television personality.
Because of Goodrem, and perhaps the first public debut on the red carpet with new boyfriend Mark Philippoussis, the hype this year surrounding TV Week's awards seems to have exploded.
The 19-year-old spent the week filming Hating Alison Ashley, and is believed to have narrowed her dress choice to two - including, sources say, a Versace.
As Goodrem decides what to wear on Sunday, two other
Aussie stars, who were unknown a year ago when she won that most popular new talent award, spent yesterday afternoon rehearsing a number that will have the audience buzzing.
Guy Sebastian and Shannon Noll have television to thank for their chart success, in the form of Australian Idol.
Sebastian, incidentally, will leave for Los Angeles the day after the Logies to start work on his second album.
In something different, the two will be backed by dancers on Sunday night, and will perform a medley of Sebastian's All I Need Is You and Noll's Drive.
Sebastian was looking forward to again sharing the stage with Noll, saying: "It's great. It's the first time I have seen him in ages.
"This time it will a bit more fun," he said.
"There are going to be dancers around us and Shannon and I are going to kind of interweave our songs, which is really cool."
Another star tipped to make a splash will be Great Outdoors presenter Laura Csortan, who is expected to wear more than $500,000 worth of diamond jewellery on the night.
