Idol adulation for a special kind of Guy
Wednesday, 25 February 2004
WHEN it comes to the title for Bendigo's biggest Guy Sebastian fan, we reckon seven-year-old Liam Clarke takes the cake.
And you only have to talk to him to know why.
The grade two Spring Gully Primary School pupil has been jumping out of his skin all week, in anticipation of the Australian Idol's Bendigo performance today.
An avid fan of the Australian Idol program, Liam says he "barracked" for Guy from the show's early auditions.
He never missed an episode, and was one of the first in Bendigo to get a copy of Guy's debut album, The Way I Am.
He has been counting down the days to the Bendigo performance for weeks.
On Monday, he spent half the night creating a giant hand-drawn poster of himself and Guy which he hopes to get the Idol to sign. Liam's reason for liking the singer is simple.
"He is a great singer," Liam said.
"He sings some great songs." Liam is also busy saving his pocket money to buy a Guy Sebastian action figure.
"You press the button and he sings different songs," he said.
Liam will head to the show with his mum, and five-year-old sister, Isabella."My sister likes Guy nearly as much as I do," he said.
Guy Sebastian will perform at the Bendigo Showgrounds today as part of the Channel V music bus tour.
The free show, from 4 pm-7 pm, also features live acts by 28 Days and Bodyjar, and will be broadcast live on Channel V. It's also a big day of music at La Trobe University Bendigo, with many acts, including Machine Gun Fellatio, playing live as part of O'Week.
