Many people have critisized John Stevens because he cannot sing any other style of music but big band style. Well, I just downloaded mp3s from the Gloria Stefan night and there is another singer that can only sing just one style. Fantasia!, I used to like her in the beginning but I have to say she just gave the worst rendition of "get on your feet" that I have ever heard. i am latin american and she sounded just terrible Sorry to say!

I sort of agree. John and Fantasia both are stuck in one style - his is golden oldies and hers is Gospel/funk. The difference between them is that while John didn't excel in singing his style to all the other themes, Fantasia has managed to do so, and made several of them her own. I personally think it's better to have your own style than be a chameleon. All of the remaining singers have their own style (except possibly Diana who is so adaptable), good luck to them all .

I've heard the mp3's and none of them were at their best. I think Fantasia has excelled with all the other genres though. I think Fantasia can sing many styles - Signed, Sealed, Delivered, Always on my Mind, Heard if Through The Grapevine, Summertime and It's a Miracle are all different from eachother.

Donald Duck on helium................go, Simon!.......lol.......I can't stand Fantasia, but I admit she has a great voice! I was even worried she might win. HOWEVER........I really think it is anyone's prize and I love Diane (and George, even tho tonight he proved he can't sing Latin!!

leave Fantasia alone - you are wrong superC - Fantasia doesn't have just one style - she has done really well through all the different styles of music so far. She is a really unique performer and has a great original voice. When she sang summertime was the best moment for the whole series. GO FANTASIA AND GEORGE!!!! TEXT

Psst, Southernaurora, I'm possibly the biggest 'Tasia fan on this board (maybe not beating Chicagoholic though!). I think she's adaptable, but she does have a distinct style which she adds to each genre. Summertime was the best.

TEXTI think you've mis-read superc's quote or something because it was in no way derogatory to Fantasia In fact it was supporting her individual style and saying she has a chance to really make it!

I don't think any of them could, maybe only latin people should sing latin. It made Gloria Estefan look really good anyway. I don't particularly like these theme nights of one singers stuff.

I liked Barry's night - he did wonders for the kids. You could hear the difference after he coached them, especially Diana .
