Well I like John Stevens!
Not everyone hates him. Having said that I don't think he is good enough to be Idol. He drifts off the note and doesn't have much expression but voice quality is fantastic. It's a pity he went on the show so young really before he has had a chance to develop his voice fully. In a few years he will be so much better.
Having said that, he is a change from all that shout/singing. I'm getting a little tired of that style all the time. Isn't anyone else getting bothered by it. Every song all the way through!!! The girls are especially like that. Maybe that's why they were in the bottom three. Those who like that style are split three ways. (Just guessing here.)
That's what has surprised me about our Idol show (thanks to Raspberry). The last four were very different in style. It was very enjoyable to watch them approach the different genres in different ways. The dynamics varied throughout the songs as well as from song to song. So much better. The more I compare the two shows the more I think we did very well. Simon Cowell & BMG must be very pleased with themselves over that one (ours).

I am STUNNED by the bottom 3. Latoya can at least be justified (people not getting attached to her personality, blah blah blah) but Fantasia, wtf?! You'd think since it is free voting over there, people wouldn't be complacent! Imagine if they split them into groups like 2 weeks ago, and Latoya Fantasia and Jennifer were grouped together...people would immediately assume they were the group with the highest votes! However...sorry, but I am glad Jennifer left. She is talented, but I just did not like her. Thank goodness George stayed, keep on voting, America! I think he's the only one left thats never been in the bottom 3...yay@that!

I know why John Stevens is still there... It's people like me hoping against the odds that John will pull something out of the bag eventually. Maybe if he stays another week he will get better.... In the meantime he offers light relief from the other girls who continue to shout/sing. Oh well. Maybe.... next week....
Just listened to George who was so obviously sick this week. Hats off to him. People must have voted on his previous songs not this one, and so they should too. He has done remarkably well surviving the week. Let's hope he doesn't suffer any long term consequences from struggling through like Cosima nearly did. I think he is the best and I hope he wins.

How can it be? The 3 best singers of the night. There must be a lot of tone deaf people out there voting. This reminds me of the night when Guy and Paulini we voted as the bottom 2. It gave me a hell of a fright as I thought Guy could be leaving the show.

Imagine if they split them into groups like 2 weeks ago, and Latoya Fantasia and Jennifer were grouped together...people would immediately assume they were the group with the highest votes! Funny thing is that's what they did do. They split them into two groups. Group A - Latoya, Fantasia, Jennifer Group B - Diana, Jasmine and John. They told George, who was on the couch, that he was safe and for him to join the top group. He automatically moved to the Diva's side which is when they announced they were actually the bottom group. Apparently Paula and Randy were really pissed off and at one stage Randy even cried.

Randy cried?!?..no he didnt. but george did..or seem to look like it.. i think he was the most shocked..
..im still shocked after seein it. but..well..it teaches u to be humble,,
when George was told to join the top 3.. he still looked puzzled..like he didnt know if he was to join grp a (bottom 3) or b so he was just straddling in the middle and then latoya and sumone else was tellin him to come over.
i mean..they were confident that they were def not in the bottom 3..
fantasia was cryin when jenniffer got voted off and shes was tellin jenniffer.. 'YOURE MY AMERICAN IDOL'
and george just seemed speechless.. and devastated..
i like jennifer in the beginnings..with her boombastic voice and boombastic hair.. she actually improved..over the weeks but i never thought much of her tho..
i miss JPL..=(
yeah welll..but i thought the other 3 did try their best and they werent bad...
i kinda pity them cause everyone alreadly labelled them as 'shldve been bottom 3's
which is unfair..and paula said sumthin like the JPL fans shifted and are all voting for john stevens..
it has become a popularity contest.
which i thought was kinda unfair for john.. cause hed feel so hated...=\
*sigh* this happens over and over again..
i like john s..but hes not really holdin up to those remaining few... theyre goin all out to win..and john as great and unique as he is....can't pull off 'power'..
and this is stupid..shows how americans dont learn their lesson with season one..tamyra gray bein voted off instead of nikki season 2..when ruben is in the bottom 2 and now this..=\

Saw my first show last week..could have sworn the three black chicks had the best voices of the lot.. and pretty darn sure at least two of them would be in the top two...J Stevens is pretty boring.... he is cute but no big deal.....mmmm......mmmmmm....mmmmm... its DEFINITELY not about the voices anymore...throwing in a wild guess here...I wonder if it is about race ? or how big your home state is?? cos Jasmine is from Hawaii isn't she?
From previous series, even if you do not win, it doesn't matter cos you have the head start and exposure you need especially in America so maybe even with good performances and voice, the commom people realise they don't have to win to make it....e.g. Kimberley Locke who had a no. 1 hit recently... and if they are not voting according to previous assumptions and expectations...here is one for the xperts........what are they voting on???

The thing is, the public already know how good Fantasia, Latoya and Jennifer are. It has become somewhat boring.
Jasmine, George and Diana are the underdogs in the competition and they have room to improve.
Being an awesome singer is great, but being flawless all the time becomes repetitious and boring in reality TV. The show is a journey about growth after all.

I think of the young'uns, only Diana has grown (and only in the last week as well!). Jasmine's been doing the same slow love ballads from the beginning. John is going backwards (I think it's because of the criticism more than anything), and George... I biassedly blame it on the sore throat I think you're right about the divas when you say they're predictable, but I wouldn't count Fantasia in them. She mixes it up and tries different styles each week.
