Oh and how come Aust Idol got such good competitors when our Popstars and previous Popstars shows never got this callibre of contestants. Or was it the format that helped them develop and grow that made the difference? The Popstars judges (except Molly of course:)) really confused me with their choices. I have on occasion flicked over to Popstars throughout the series and no one really IMPRESSES me. I dont know whether this is because of the judge's making poor decisions, or because really outstanding talents didnt want to be labelled a Popstar and are holding out for the next Ai... btw let's not forget the judges put thru that weird Marvin guy thru in his audition and wen he tried out for Aust Idol he was put on the UNCUT DVD! I think that alone gives an indication of the difference in standards between the two shows. Out of the whole of the contestants I would have to say I think Eleven are the best because they can write, sing and play their own instruments. I also thought Taryn had a good voice and shouldn't have left the first week ova Sarah (who is still there! Why!?) and I liked Renee's second week where she say "Thank U" she was really unique and put her own spin on it. The fact she got voted out just tells me that the audience that watch Popstars arent keen on originality and I think it is because of this that Miranda will probably win.

Hey all...I did not really follow this American Idol series ...saw a bit of the first few audition shows and I got bored....same with Popstars..tried... I mean I really tried to watch Popstars but I cringed everytime.. became too painful to watch ...
So you might not think much of what I;ve got to say but I just think that we got lucky with the contestants at Aussie Idol..... especially the last two...and the top 5 all had that X factor in terms of their personality. voice, stage presence or charisma. I am not so sure the second series will be just as successful in unearthing anyone new who will capture our attention as much as the first series ... we shall see.
