Doesn't anybody like the voice on that red headed John? I haven't heard that quality before. He has limited appeal in that he can really only sing crooner/ballad songs, but his sound is gorgeous. The three mentioned by dhm will probably make it but we have heaps of them in the music world already. John has a very classy voice. I think he has heaps of potential in a niche market. If nothing else happens from this show I hope someone in the music world recognises his potential. (Think Josh Groban sort of niche but not edging towards opera)

Well, Simon did say JPL is the dark horse to win AI3! MInd you, he was a little disappointing in the country show. John Stevens on the other hand was awesome!I bet NO-ONE picked up that he had forgotten his words until the judges said so. The problem is, his style of singing isn't going to get him through to the end. My faves are La Toya and George - George most of all!
Go George Go!!!! ;D

He has a really nice sound, but it's very niche and definitely a 'golden oldie' kind of voice. If he works on his vibrato (ie develops it so he doesn't just sing long unvarying notes), he will be successful. Although I see him (and hear him) more as a Las Vegas cabaret lounge singer than a star.

Well, Simon did say JPL is the dark horse to win AI3! I think it's because of his banana suit, pen salesman, dancing antics more than his voice or star quality though. But he's cute and funny (maybe he should be a comedian instead?) so I can forgive him. How much did you bet? Cause you just lost some $$ ;D I picked it up when he did it- he paused for a second, then went into a mumbled 'doo doo', then his voice gathered strength and he covered really nicely. I was left wondering whether it had been a slip-up by the end . So I guess you're half-right, Fyrrn!

Yep I agree. I'd listen to him anyday. Not all the time mind, just now and then. I hope he stays in the comp long enough to get a recording contract though, but I can see his appeal is not broad enough. Oh and I forgave him his words slip (I picked it up immediately but he recovered well), he I only 16. More experience will help him.

John Stevens HAS to stay on after Motown night - because the week after next is Big Band night (I found that out on the AI3 website) and that would really suit him.

I hope he stays coz I think he has a great voice and lots of potential, even though his performances so far haven't been great. Btw what exactly is Motown?

Motown is American Black Pop music from the 60's 70's and maybe early 80's. Like Marvin Gaye - I Heard it on the Grapevine, The Supremes, Jackson Five, The Temptations. Songs like My Girl, How Sweet it is to be Loved by You, etc. George Huff is going to be AWESOME on Motown night!
