Well Jelllyfish, I am amazed that your friends liked him so much. We thought that the rest of the world thought that he was forgetable. Man those lower placings really didn't gel. I couldn't believe it myself and it took me more than a week to get over it. I have a CD with all of his recordings that I could find (not on AI and not his album - I have those separate) on it (eg carols, gospel, Australia Day appearance, etc). It is 57 mins long and is great listening. You could PM me if you are interested.

Well, I wondered where everybody went.
Never bothered to have a look here before.
Fr interest, when surfing around, being bored, I found some forum or other where they were taking polls of their own, and Guy had won hands down, by some huge percentage. It really does seem strange, but that's how that particular cookie crumbled.
Perhaps it will work out better in the long run. People appear to have been so stunned at his final rating that in a way it has been some sort of advertising for Guy. Its made people search him out on the net, and look at other stuff he's done.
I don't think Prince would have approved WDC. He was so particular with some music for recordings that he insisted on doing them himself apparently. So, to hear his own "big one" presented on World Idol (the "proper" musos wince still at this Idol thing) would just not cut it.
There was a v.recent article where Guy said that Matt had problems with an OK with one of his at the televised Concert and they had to do a quick re-do or something.

Well, well, well, this has been entertaining to say the least. I haven't laughed so hard in months. Please, please go on, I love watching people trying to out do one other, it's so outrageously self indulgent and pathetic . Double recessive, thanks for those reviews, they were interesting. I hadn't heard any feedback from the international reviewers about Guy's performance, which in my opinion was brilliant, so I am pleased to see that he generated such interest and positive reviews.

Before Guy came to London(I went to London for Christmas) all the newspapers were saying how fantastic Will Young was, and how all the others (except Kelly Clarkson didn't have a chance). But after Guy performed, everyone was so positive and everyone was saying how amazing he was. So it is fantastic to see that Guy has had a impact on so many countries, he is so talented and I am glad that the world can see that now .

Prince allowed Guy Sebastian to perform ‘When Doves Cry' on A Idol and on his Album because of the royalties that he would get from it.. A very wise decision given how many records to date Guy has sold.
The reason I think that he didn't want Guy performing his song on the international stage - World Idol is because he knew that he was releasing early 2004 his multi-CD package - a collection of his brilliant works on the international market which included ‘When Doves Cry’ which was a very successful song for Prince.
Given the 'run away train' success Guy was having... it was unfortunate that Prince was just protecting his upcoming interests - as you would if you were releasing internationally, your set of works todate.
Having said all that, I thought Guy’s performance of “What a Wonderful World” was brilliant – and I hadn’t even heard it before Boxing Day 2003.
