I saw this very short report on the news this evening about NZ Idol 3rd finalist Camillia Temple that got voted out last night, they were showing her on a little interview about her future. The reporter then went on to say shes not that gutted, you'd never know, basically he was saying the American Idol 2003 and the Australian Idol are outsold by their runner ups, that could happen to her too! I could kill that reporter, i could kill him! I swear!!!!! Please tell me that's not true! I hope he only means in NZ.

I don't really understand what your asking Penny. If you mean that the runner up does better than the winner then thats not true, while the runner up has always been sucessful, the winner gets the world wide exposure and is at least as popular as, if not more than the runner up. For example we are very familiar with Kelly Clarkson in Australia but not familiar with runner up Justin. Maybe if you make your question more clear i'd be able to help you

I know Kelly is way more popular than Justin but he meant Ruben and Clay. I know Guy goes global which I hope means it'll boost up his record sales. so I don't really what this reporter is talking about

Hi Penny
I think the person in NZ was referring to Ruben and Clay from American Idol 2 series - Will and Garthe from England series 1
Both the runners up have out sold the Winners and had more overseas exposure.
If you see Sheenia thread about GUY and Shannon you will find that Guy is doing a little better than Shannon at the moment.
But having said that lets not get into who is doing better than who. Each of these aritist have their own styles, they have to prove themselves in the industry.
I'm not worried if Shannon does out sell GUY, that would be fantasitic for him and his fans. For me as long as GUy is doing what he loves and making music, I will be here to support him. It's not about where he is on the charts it's about what connections you make with the music.
there are loads of artists who have never had a number one but have influence the music industry. So long as MY GUY is making music that is all I care about.
xxBo

I don't really know how popular Shannon is, and I don't know who sold more but I know Guy went number one on both releases and I don't think Shannon made to number one, I could be wrong as I don't follow anything about Shannon.
Anyway, I just refuse to believe that.

Ok Penny here is the stats Arwen posted in the other thread to ease your mind.
here is a summary of guy and shannons single and album sales
<G> = GOLD (35000 UNITS) • <P> = PLATINUM (70000 UNITS)
Guy
Angles Brought Me Here <P>5
Album <P>6
All I Need Is You <P>
Shannon
What about Me <P>4
Album <P>4
Drive <G>
BUT like I said it's not about who has done what. It's about the what the music mean's to you and that's what counts not numbers.
