KELLY: Typical, predictable Kelly performance. Good but not great. Band was too loud in comparison to her voice at some points. Will probably be in the bottom three due to weak fanbase (as proven the last two weeks).
SHANNON: Meh. Very 'blah' performance. Competent but not memorable. Love his voice, but the song didn't show it off. Was much better last week.
REBEKAH: And she's back in the game! Loved this performance, biiig improvement on the last two mediocre weeks. Voice and confidence improved by 100%. One question: what the hell was she wearing?
LEVI: Yes, I know that I'm a huge Levi supporter - but I honestly was pleasantly surprised by that performance. Glad he made it his own, thought his voice was stronger than it had been in weeks - and yet the judges dogged him. It hurt me.
PAULINI: Absolutely ripped it apart. Still think her bottom notes are a little shaky but those top notes - whoa. Amazing. Great choice of song. Gets better with every passing week.
ROB: Starting to get on my nerves. A bit too cocky at times, maybe? Energetic performances make up for lack of vocal ability. Based on pure talent, would like to see him go tomorrow night, but most likely won't, due to huge fanbase.
COSIMA: Fantaaastic voice. Didn't hit a wrong note - beautiful control and pitch. Only criticism - she has Celine Dion written all over her, from the tone of her voice to the facial expressions she makes when singing. And we already have a Celine Dion.
GUY: Huge supporter of Guy (and his lovely voice) - not sure whether I loved or hated the song choice though. Like Levi, glad he managed to make it his own. Even though well-performed, it still felt a little wrong for some unknown reason.

I'm actually really worried for Levi this week. Judging by the responses on the official forum, they're not too good. So if you're a Levi fan reading this and you believe in him as much as I do, GET CRACKING ON THOSE VOTES. I think he'll need them.

I think that Paulini, Rebekah and Cosima were the best. The guys sucked, especially Shannon who I was really disappointed with, Millsy and Levi. Guy did a good job though. I'm not sure who I think will get the boot although one maybe Kelly.

G'day - Alex here again. Tonight's show was memorable for two knockout performances and the increasingly bizarre antics and commentary of Mark Holden. Whew... that guy is really starting to lose the plot.
KELLY: received quite well by the audience although I'm not sure why. It was a pretty dodge performance all round - her voice warbled on and off-tune, the band was too loud and the fist-pumps were distracting. While Killing Heidi was a good choice for her, by the end it should have been painfully clear to everyone that she's no Ella Hooper. Going first, coupled with her small fan base (not helped by her frankly irritating off-stage appearances on the Monday and Thursday night shows) means she's certain bottom three. Hasta la vista to the "rock chick". 4.5/10
SHANNON: vocally a big drop-off from last week and I have to admit that tonight he did come across like a struggling karaoke singer from some obscure outback pub. Still, you couldn't say it was a complete disaster. 5.5/10
BEK: truly outstanding. Dug up a song that no-one had ever heard of, and delivered it totally convincingly - by now, she's got the heartbroken (yet stoic) female routine down pat. Her voice was amazing - soft, smooth and warm, but it was her facial expressions and her eyes that once again conveyed her legendary believability as a singer. Sweet off-stage persona plus the fact that she's got a story that resonates - a battler who's experienced her fair share of emotional pain and hardship - means she's definitely looming as a threat. Seeing as she's yet to experience being bottom three (even when she's deserved to), her fans aren't going anywhere either. 9/10 LEVI: pretty poor effort tonight, seemed as if he was feeling sorry for himself because he couldn't find the right R&B song and delivered a very average performance. Dicko was spot on - listening to "To the Moon and Back" you realize how much Darren Hayes' voice suits this song whereas Levi's just doesn't and he's starting to come across as a bit of a one-trick pony. Still, he's immensely likeable and did himself a favour with his laidback style - particularly when he told that idiot Mark Holden to chill out. 5/10
PAULINI: I found her effort last week rather lacklustre but I'm a convert after tonight. Absoutely brilliant performance that had everyone in the studio out of their seats and even old grannies in a flag-waving frenzy. As usual, she carried herself with grace and class and the all-white look was a winner. Best of all, you felt the song lost nothing without Tina Arena singing it. 9.5/10
MILLSY: if the voting took place on merit, he really shouldn't last too much longer. It seems to me that while everyone else aims to peak on Sunday night, Millsy does his best work on Thursday night's Inside Idol where his personality and natural affinity for the camera advantages him over everyone else. I'd liked to have seen him do a John Farnham song like Guy because tonight's choice was daggy and dull choice and the intepretation was only so-so. However, because of his fanbase (which seems to be the largest of anyone) I don't expect Millsy to leave just yet - he'll only get into trouble when there are very few people left and everyone but him does a stunning performance. 5.5/10
COSIMA: the problem here is not one of performance quality but one of fanbase and appeal. In my opinion Cosima has it tough because she cannot afford a false step - not only does she need to pick a killer song each week (preferably something modern and well-known like Delta Goodrem) but she also has to nail it. I'd never heard of this song - most viewers probably hadn't - and while her voice was wonderful as usual, she just doesn't evoke the same sincerity or emotions as Bek, or the aura of a Paulini. Chopping and changing your look each week also shows a lack of ease with who you are - the getup was dowdy and smacked of someone who'd just stepped out of a suburban K-Mart. Also, she didn't seem to smile and enjoy herself as much as she had in previous weeks. On vocal ability, there are plenty of others who are more deserving of the chop. Still, I can't help feeling that Cosima's in danger. 7/10
GUY: Surprising Farnham choice, but nothing really wrong with the performance except for the fact that it was a little too Hillsong. Beaming from ear to ear throughout, he really seemed to enjoy himself and had terrific rapport with the audience. No worries here, two good weeks in a row for Guy. 8/10
So...my picks for bottom three are Kelly, Shannon and Cosima. Levi and Millsy deserve to be there but their fanbases will probably carry them through. Kelly to go first, and then it's an incredibly close call but I'll say Shannon as he was really below par. This is completely unscientific but maybe the fact a lot of people who might normally support him were watching the footy grand final will also affect his vote.
Bye ALEX

Cosima was good but I also am still not sure what her style and musical direction is. Singing Celine and Donna Summer one week and Chisel the next. Because she can sing well, she sings many different kinds of songs and that shows her abilities, but it can also obscure her personality. And sometimes her choices are TOO pop- e.g. the Celine song, the Whitney song.
Rebekah has a certain style and depth. She doesn't have the strongest voice but that makes her work with the interpretation more and given the right song, like tonight, she makes it work in a unique, artistic way. And she never chooses music that is too 'poppy'.
Shannon, I don't know, but his song was slightly obscure and wasn't really one of the "storytelling" songs Dicko was talking about. He would've been better singing Rob's song.
Rob, Kelly and Levi were all fairly predictable and showed their limitations this week.
Guy wasn't as good as last week. He didn't seem that into the song. If he had more of an edge and distinct musical taste then he would be more popular since he has such a strong, unique voice.
Paulini has the most freedom with her voice. She can do more with it and thus sing more songs that others shy away from. That's why she can do big ballads. But I also want to see more of her point of view and personal style. She is similar to Guy in that she could do with more of an edge.
I feel the only singers who took full advantage of the Australian theme tonight were Rebekah, Cosima, and Paulini.

I'm not going to reiterate what has been said numerous times in this thread as I agree with most of it. But I think the judges were more than kind to Levi who produced his singularly worst ever performance to date.
He looked uncomfortable and it's easy to see why when you take note of his total lack of dynamics and a complete misinterpretation of the song bordering on laughable. Combine that with numerously recurring pitch problems and he is without a doubt this weeks Big Dud.

I can't believe that everyone's being so harsh with Levi. I honestly enjoyed his performance and flipped out when the judges started tearing him to shreds. He looked uncomfortable afterwards when they were dogging him (well, who wouldn't?) but during the song... I dunno, I thought he was good! LOL. Seems I'm the only one.
Ah well, Levi, you get my vote!

HEHE.... (with regard to the above quote)
Kayti, I dont believe anyone would critcise you for what you enjoy....that is entirely up to you. Making a preemptive statement such as the above disturbing quote always puts one in definite position of subjectivity, thus making any further comments unreliable at best. The reason I think that you are are the only who thinks this is one of two reasons.
1. All the other Levi supporters agree with me. (this is REALLY REALLY doubt) 2. They are bandaging wrists and vomiting Panadol as we speak. (this I believe more likely)
Do not worry however, they will be back very shortly I'm sure - maybe somewhat contritely - with delusions fully intact.

I totally agree that the judges were altogether too harsh on Levi. Their comments really took away from the performance. I was worried about the song choice when they announced it, but by the end of the performance I thought he pulled it off OK. Then by the time the judges were through with him I felt rather confused. I think it was unfair. OK if your going to criticize people but they weren't criticising everyone that deserved to be. And the judges can be such hipocrits. One minute they're telling the idols to show some range and try different things and that's just what levi was doing. Then they turn around and say stick to RNB. He still gets my vote. I think it was just the wrong song choice. If we can keep him in this week I'm sure well see something amazing next week. F?#!% the judges. LEVI still rocks!!!

Every week you all wait for something amazing from him....he's never done it yet, and given how weeks he's had to come up with it, I dont think he ever will.

I agree with Attackcat- we've always had high expectations for Levi, but he still hasn't been able to deliver. Will he ever?
The major problem with Levi, is his tendancy to choose songs that are incompatitible with his voice. He should choose lower register songs because he cannot reach the high notes. Justin Timberlake and Darren Hayes are two male singers that have a large vocal range, and so their songs will not be suitable for Levi.
