On B105 about 10 minutes ago they played Anthony's new single, The Prayer, as it was released to radio stations today. They said that it had been receiving heaps and heaps of requests for it today (woo go Anthony). I was one of them hehe. For those of you who haven't heard it, it was quite similar to his performances on Idol except it was obviously longer and had an extra verse or something - definitely new parts in it, which were in Italian if my memory serves me correctly. IMO it was very good and I look forward to its retail release in a couple of weeks.
They said how Casey's single had gone to number one, but then revealed the sales figures and compared them to contestants from last year. While Guy's Angels Brought Me Here sold 128 000 copies in its first week, Casey's Listen With Your Heart sold merely 35 000. Although Casey's was not expected to be as successful as the huge Idol franchise of last year, this is quite an alarming difference. Also they compared her sales to Shannon Noll's third week of sales with What About Me which sold 35 000 copies. They observed that the runner up last year sold more copies in his THIRD week of sales, than the winner this year did in her first week.
Interesting.

There there hehe. I wish he had won too. But then he probably wouldn't be releasing 'The Prayer', so don't worry - just join me in the queue to buy it on December 20 and we can make him the real winner ;D

Can Anthony fans be gracious about Casey success: I'm actually glad Casey won Idol now, She is already a real winner. This topic - Anthony will be a real winner already argued to death in AI forum. Good luck to him. Don't want to be in paul cashmere fan club ..don't like the comparison at all, it's unfair to Casey.

I don't think we were being ungracious at all. And being ungracious about her success? Um didn't you read above? She doesn't seem to be being that successful.
I have nothing against Casey - I actually like her. I just prefer Anthony as a singer and was observing that Casey doesn't seem to be doing as well as expected - I thought some people might be interested to hear this. Hopefully she will do better in the future. And its inevitable that their immediate success after Idol will be compared, thats the nature of coming from the same competition, but I'm sure in the future they will be considered as individual artists and their 'success' will be more fairly assessed.
I'm fairly sure I'm allowed to support Anthony and want him to come out of Idol as a real winner.

I know you didn't. I'm just saying that that is what I was doing, rather than being ungracious towards Casey's 'success'.

Oh please! You where taking a "nice" dig at Casey!!! If ya wanna support Anthony....GREAT. Not necessary to point out figures and such. Why bother? Especially in a "GO ANTHONY" post. Why bother? Why do you care about Casey's sales? A dig for sure...no matter how you glam it up.
Casey is the Idol. Let's move on. I LOVE Anthony's voice. Good luck to him and Casey. best wishes and blessings to the both of them.
peace,
Reggie

i agree, comparing sales figures is not the way to go.
People like Casey 'simply because they do, not because they hate Anthony. And Anthony fans like him for the same reason.
Just because she hasn't had as many copies shipped or sold does not make her any less worthy of winning the title.
Personally neither of them are my cup of tea, but no need to take a dig at them y'know?

Um I seriously wasn't trying to 'take a dig' at Casey, but whatever. I wasn't the one who went and researched those figures (I don't even know if they're right!) I just heard it on the radio and thought some people on here might be interested in what they said. If you're not, good for you.

People often post articles etc. on this site, but it doesn't mean that they necessarily support the argument being presented, just that they feel that it is an interesting argument. I would have thought that Casey's single would have sold much more than that (so it's not like I'm posting that to prove a point or anything), but I thought it was a surprising bit of news even if it is from an unreliable source.
