Hi maggie20ct Sorry to hear you didn't get through to the next part - but by turning up in the first place and giving it a go you already MADE IT anyway. I'm a parent and when my kids ask me to take them to local talent quests (I live in the country) I think I'm being a good Mum just getting them there on time! I will always remember what your Dad did for you. If he were my dad right now he'd be my hero. Congrats on giving it your best shot and for making no excuses. When John Stevens went out tonight on American Idol he was complimented by Simon for being only 16 y.o yet taking every bullet like a man. Your posts had that same quality about them. Wish you had of made it... hope you try again next year.

Family5 Thank you so much for those absolutely gorgeous words. I always remember your concert story and have always thought that it couldn't have happened to a nicer person or family. I will never forget what dad did for me and I understand how sweet it was and will hold it to my heart for the rest of my life, I know that sounds silly but I guess you had to be there to understand the magnitude of it. And do you know what? in my first post I said he waited for 2 hours in the rain but now that I think about it it was more like 3 and half/4 hours. All up it was 5 hours standing up (though it wasn't raining the whole time) by himself (believe me I tried to give him a break but he kept banishing me back to the car and telling me to rest and keep my voice rested , hes so stubborn!) and then all together he stood up for 8 hours man hes the best! Anyway thanks again, Your kids are very lucky to have such a sweet mum

Maggie, my lovely Grooveland Idle!! Good on you honey, what an awesome experience, I'm so excited that you were there and experienced all that amazing stuff. Wish I were there now!! Sounds like you did yourself proud, so good on you. You know, it makes you wonder. We were really lucky with Guy and Shannon and Paulini and Cosima, but especially Guy. Now with all these amazing singers that you are talking about one has to wonder how people like Millsy Cle Kelly seriously got through? I mean really, Guy and Paulini and maybe Cosima and Shannon were the pick of the bunch, the rest I seriously thought were very, very average. Looks like this year we are going to have some serious talent to watch. If you look at popstars, I also don't see any outstanding vocal talent there, I don't know, am I being harsh?? If you think about Guy and Paulini and Kelly Clarkson’s vocal talent you know what I mean, these people can't be the exception to the rule because I have seen some amazing singers in piano bars. Lets hope they are picking great talent. Hey Maggie, some questions In the time you were there, how many people did you see actually get through the Mark, Dicko, Marcia auditions??? and did you hear what they were like?? I'm so proud of you honey, good stuff!!!

I ... I will admit that I thought Millsy was cute in the semi-finals and hoped he'd get in. Once he got in, it was all downhill from there... though I liked 'Dirty Girl'. I guess I'm just a pop fan!

I know what your saying Sheenia. I sat in the car wondering the same thing - especially since the first auditions were only letting amazing singers through (with a lot of funny ones for entertainment) then how did Lauren, Millsy etc get through? Especially Lauren. My only conclusion was that last yeah there was a whole lot less people auditioning, and that maybe there is something special about Lauren that I just havn't noticed It seems on the show that if you can sing - you get through, but that is definetly not the case. Its very specific and they obviously know what they are looking for before they start. In answer to your question - the judges weren't even there on that day. They come on a different day for the people that have gotten through that far. I saw about 2 people out of about 25 get through the first audition but after that I left. The people I saw getting through were both excellent singers - but then again there was this one girl that was better than anyone I had heard all day and she didn't get through which was a major shock. Like I said, they obviously know what they are looking for before they start auditioning.

interesting, it makes me so excited about the next show. I wonder if I should tape the lot this time round?
What do you think?

hhhmmm well if it turns out as good as the first one then it would be worth it at the end but it would mean a whole lotta effort, and a whole lotta tapes.
